Our riding program is centered on good horsemanship. This means we incorporate handling, ground work, management, and equine science in addition to riding into our program.
We offer lessons on our own seasoned horses or on your own. We also can provide full training, occasional rides, or lunging on your own horse
We emphasize treating horses with respect and having their and your safety a priority. We tailor our lessons to each individual to provide the best learning experience possible for each student. While showing is not a required goal, we attend multiple fun shows each year along with shows like the McLean County 4-H Show and provide show specific instruction in under saddle classes as well as in hand for those interested in showing. We also provide coaching services when attending shows.
Age:
We are very adaptive to working with young riders and provide a low-pressure approach to teaching. We have solid lesson horses that are routinely used as children’s or beginner’s mounts. Children can begin our program as young as 6, but it is up to the instructor to ultimately decide if the child is old enough. This decision is based on the child’s coordination, attention span, ability to follow directions, and physical strength. And remember that no one is too old to learn!
Hours:
We offer a great amount of flexibility in the frequency of lessons. We offer various daytime, evening, and weekend times. Most riders prefer a weekly or bi-weekly riding schedule. This enables you to have a set time each week to come. If you cannot come that often or just want to try our riding for the first time, we are more than happy to set occasional lessons as scheduling allows.
